Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia Verifies Identities to Protect Citizens from Forced Prostitution
The Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia is working to verify the identities of Vietnamese citizens believed to be victims of forced prostitution in the country.
During a press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on October 31, Deputy Spokesperson Doan Khac Viet addressed the issue of 7 Vietnamese citizens rescued from a prostitution facility in Malaysia.
According to Mr. Viet, the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia has been collaborating with local authorities to carry out necessary procedures, including verifying the identities of the affected citizens to ensure their protection.
“Vietnam is working closely with local authorities to handle the situation, including verifying the identities of Vietnamese citizens to take necessary protection measures,” Mr. Viet stated.
Mr. Viet also advised Vietnamese citizens traveling abroad for work to research companies with reliable addresses in the country and to be cautious of job offers that seem too good to be true.
It is reported that the female citizens in question had entered Malaysia as tourists and were allegedly forced into prostitution.
