Escalation Over Reserved Sunbed

The fatal confrontation began as a disagreement over the use of sunloungers on the shoreline. The disagreement quickly intensified into a physical fight that drew in other individuals on the crowded beach. One eyewitness told the Kathimerini newspaper that the scene turned so chaotic that screaming from the altercation could be heard from the opposite end of the beach.

Emergency Response and Collapse

During the height of the violence, the 82-year-old man collapsed. Bystanders and emergency responders administered CPR and used a defibrillator on the victim before an ambulance arrived to transport him to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators are currently examining the sequence of events that led to the physical altercation, as well as the exact medical cause of the 82-year-old man’s death.
