▲ Inspection of hazardous substances
[사건의내막/김지호 기자] = As a result of the Gyeonggi Provincial Health and Environment Research Institute conducting 1,957 hazardous substance safety tests on marine products distributed in the province over the past two years, it was confirmed that most of the marine products, except for a total of 3 cases (0.15%), can be consumed safely.
This study is aimed at securing safe food for consumers, and the researcher has ▲1,735 cases of heavy metals (lead, cadmium, mercury) in marine products distributed in wholesale markets and large supermarkets in the province over a two-year period from 2022 to 2023 ▲Residual animal use. It was announced on the 27th that a total of 1,957 tests were conducted, including 183 pharmaceuticals and 39 shell toxins.
Looking at the inspection results by year, 2 out of 992 cases (0.2%) in 2022 and 1 case out of 965 cases (0.1%) in 2023 were found to be inadequate, and the remaining 99.85% of marine products were found to be within the standards.
In all three cases that were judged unsuitable, the veterinary drug ingredients amoxicillin (0.05 mg/kg or less) and enrofloxacin (0.1 mg/kg or less) were detected in farmed live flounder exceeding the permitted residue standards.
The caught seafood was immediately blocked from distribution, and we plan to strengthen the production and distribution inspection process and prevent recurrence through cooperation with relevant agencies.
The researcher published the ‘2022-2023 Gyeonggi-do Statistical Yearbook of Hazardous Substances in Distributed Fishery Products’, which summarizes the results of two years of safety tests, and posted it on the Gyeonggi-do Health and Environment Research Institute website for anyone to view.
An official from the Gyeonggi Provincial Health and Environment Research Institute said, “We have produced a statistical data book with detailed explanations, such as methods and items for safety inspection of marine products, so that the general public can easily understand them.” He added, “We will continue to conduct inspections so that residents can consume marine products with confidence in the future. “We will do our best to provide safe seafood, including providing as much information as possible,” he said.
