US Unaware of Israeli Attack on Beirut, Pentagon Announces

The United States of America (USA) did not receive advance warning about the latest Israeli attack on Beirut in Lebanon, the Pentagon announced, as reported by Anadolu.

Without Prior Notice

“The United States is not involved in this operation and we had no advance warning,” Pentagon deputy spokeswoman Sabrina Singh told reporters.

She added that Defense Minister Lloyd Austin had spoken to his Israeli counterpart, Yoav Gallant, while the operation was already underway.

She pointed out that the United States was still evaluating the entire case, adding that it had no additional information or any details.

The Israeli army launched a powerful airstrike in the southern suburbs of Beirut, claiming to have attacked the headquarters of the Lebanese Hezbollah group.

Hundreds of Airstrikes

The Israeli army, which has been in a controlled conflict with Hezbollah since October 8 last year, has carried out hundreds of airstrikes on cities in southern Lebanon, as well as on the Bekaa and Baalbek regions, since September 23.

According to the Lebanese authorities, 773 people were killed in the air, while almost 150,000 were displaced by the bombing.
