Slick Roads Cause Multiple Accidents Across Trøndelag
Several accidents have been reported across Trøndelag this morning due to icy and slushy road conditions.
Police are urging drivers to exercise caution as reports of vehicles skidding off roads and colliding have come in from as far north as Namsos to Hitra in the southwest.”The traffic incidents we’ve had this morning span a large geographical area, and slippery conditions have been reported in all locations,” saeid Ebbe Kimo, operations leader for the Trøndelag Police.
While there have been multiple incidents,Kimo emphasized that the number of accidents is not unusually high.
“In the accident on Bårdshaug, the incident commander reported very icy conditions. However, I believe there are significant variations in road conditions across the region,” Kimo added.
The Norwegian Public Roads Governance’s traffic control center in Mid-Norway has received numerous calls about slippery roads, particularly in the Namsos and Orkanger areas.
“We’ve received several calls about icy roads in the Namsos and Orkanger areas this morning,” said traffic operator Runar Kvalshaug. “Though, we’re not overwhelmed with calls, and we have plenty of snowplows out on the roads.”

6:18 a.m.: A semi-trailer truck skidded off the road near the Fenestunnelen in Orkland, with it’s front end in a ditch and its rear end against the guardrail. The driver is arranging for towing, but the road is temporarily closed.
7:14 a.m.: Police reported a car veering off the road at a bridge near Hovika in Namsos. The driver was taken to a medical clinic, and traffic is being directed through a single lane. 7:17 a.m.: Two cars collided on Bårdshaug in Orkland. Only material damage was reported, and a tow truck has been called.
7:29 a.m.: Another car went off the road in Stiklestad Alle in Verdal. There are no indications of serious injuries.
Drivers are advised to slow down, increase following distances, and be extra vigilant on the roads today.
