Remco evenepoel’s quest for the Dauphiné Criterium title faces notable hurdles as the final stage approaches.Despite wearing the leader’s jersey earlier in the week, he now trails Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard, the top contenders for the general classification.
Evenepoel finished third in his Tour de France debut last summer, more than nine minutes behind Pogačar. At this year’s Dauphiné, the 25-year-old finds himself behind not only Pogačar and Vingegaard, but also Florian Lipowitz of Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe.
