Second Arrest in Mosque Arson Attack UK News

Suspects ⁢Arrested in East Sussex Mosque‌ Arson Investigation

Emergency services responded‌ to a fire at‌ a mosque located on Phyllis Avenue in Peacehaven, East ‌Sussex, at‌ approximately 9:50 PM ‍on Saturday, October ​5, 2025. The entrance to ⁣the building and a‌ nearby vehicle‌ sustained significant fire damage, but fortunately, ‍no⁣ injuries were reported.

Two‌ Arrests Made in Connection with Arson

Sussex Police has arrested two individuals in connection with‍ the incident. A 46-year-old man from‍ Littlehampton was ⁢initially arrested‍ on ‌Monday, October 7, 2025, and has⁤ since been released on conditional bail. A 25-year-old man with no fixed address was arrested on Tuesday evening,October 8,2025,and ​remains in police custody.

Both men‍ are ⁢being held⁢ on suspicion of arson with ⁢intent‌ to endanger life.

Police Appeal for Information

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cullimore stated that authorities believe‍ members of the local community possess information relevant to the investigation. ​He urged​ anyone with possibly vital information to come‌ forward and assist⁣ the police.
