Suspects Arrested in East Sussex Mosque Arson Investigation

Emergency services responded to a fire at a mosque located on Phyllis Avenue in Peacehaven, East Sussex, at approximately 9:50 PM on Saturday, October 5, 2025. The entrance to the building and a nearby vehicle sustained significant fire damage, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Two Arrests Made in Connection with Arson
Sussex Police has arrested two individuals in connection with the incident. A 46-year-old man from Littlehampton was initially arrested on Monday, October 7, 2025, and has since been released on conditional bail. A 25-year-old man with no fixed address was arrested on Tuesday evening,October 8,2025,and remains in police custody.
Both men are being held on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
Police Appeal for Information
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cullimore stated that authorities believe members of the local community possess information relevant to the investigation. He urged anyone with possibly vital information to come forward and assist the police.
