german MP Jürgen Hardt has sparked controversy after discussing the possibility of the German national team boycotting the 2026 World Cup in the United States, due to the positions of US President Donald Trump.
The German newspaper “Bild” quoted Hardt, spokesman for foreign policy of the christian Democratic Union and Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU), as saying: “Withdrawing from the tournament would only be seen as a last resort to urge President Trump to reconsider his position on the Greenland issue.”
