Pixel Watch Left Behind Alerts & Auto-Lock Feature

by Lisa Park - Tech Editor

Google might finally ‍be adding a small-but-very useful feature for ⁢its smartwatches – the kind that you‍ don’t realise you ‌need until you leave your phone on a café table‌ adn walk off like an ⁣idiot.

According to⁣ a new‌ APK teardown spotted‌ by Android ⁢Authority, Google is working on⁢ a “Notify when left behind” feature for Pixel Watch that ⁤would alert you ⁤when your connected Android phone gets separated from your wrist.

This is by no means anything ⁢new -⁢ Apple Watch users have had a similar feature for years, and something Samsung’s Galaxy Watch⁣ already offers in its ‌own ecosystem. Regardless, whether Google’s late to ⁢the ⁣party or not,⁤ this will still be good news⁣ for pixel Watch fans.

Google’s Pixel Watch coudl soon get a new⁢ feature that alerts you if ⁤you leave your phone behind.⁢ Code discovered by 9to5Google suggests the watch will vibrate when it loses its Bluetooth connection with your Pixel⁢ phone.

This feature goes beyond a simple buzz. The report indicates it will⁤ work with an “auto-lock” function, automatically securing your phone ⁣when it’s separated from your watch. This adds a layer of security if your phone is lost or ⁤stolen.

You’ll also be able to silence alerts in designated “trusted locations,” preventing notifications ⁤when you leave your phone charging ⁤in another room. Activating Airplane Mode could also trigger the separation alert, as ⁢it disables‌ Bluetooth.

Google ⁢hasn’t announced a release date for ‌this feature, but it would be⁣ a useful addition to the Pixel Watch.
