A key dish served was Galbijjim (braised short ribs),prepared with abalone and seasonal vegetables. the Korea Times reported that the Galbijjim was uniquely flavored with a soy sauce base infused with Italian red wine,signifying a fusion of Korean and Italian culinary traditions and a desire for strengthened bilateral ties. This culinary approach was intended to express a wish for friendship between South Korea and Italy.
Tteokmandeuk & Ravioli-Shaped Dumplings
Tteokmandeuk,a Korean dumpling soup,was prepared with dumplings shaped like ravioli,a conventional Italian pasta. This was reportedly done to celebrate Prime Minister Meloni’s visit. News1 Korea reported that Prime Minister Meloni and her delegation were notably impressed with the taste of these ravioli-shaped dumplings.
