Meta Becomes Largest US Power Buyer for Atom Energy to Fuel Data Centers

Meta Secures Large Nuclear energy Deals with TerraPower,Oklo,and Vistra

Tech giant Meta Platforms has⁣ reached an agreement for what’s being ⁢called teh largest corporate nuclear energy procurement in U.S. history, signing deals with three ‍leading ‌suppliers: TerraPower, ⁣Oklo,⁣ and Vistra. These ​deals will provide​ up to 6.6 gigawatts‌ (GW) of new and existing energy ‌over the next 20 years, primarily supporting Meta’s ambitious expansion of its artificial ‍intelligence (AI)-powered data centers.

According to NRA, this strategic investment⁣ is part of Meta’s broader approach to supporting a diverse range of clean energy technologies, aiming to ‌secure a stable and sustainable​ energy source for its growing power needs. the agreements represent a important‍ step not only⁤ for⁣ Meta’s ⁢operations but also for ‌the U.S. nuclear energy sector, fostering both the modernization of existing facilities and the progress of new,⁢ advanced ⁤reactor projects.

Deal Details‍ and Projects

The⁤ agreement with TerraPower includes funding for‌ the development of up​ to eight‌ Natrium-type ‍advanced reactors,capable of providing approximately 690 megawatts (MW)⁢ of​ power by 2032.
