Lula to Visit Washington After Trump Phone Call

Lula ‍and Trump Discuss Bilateral Relations ⁤in⁣ Phone Call

Brazilian President ⁢Luiz‌ Inácio Lula​ da ⁢Silva spoke with‍ U.S. President Donald⁤ Trump by telephone ⁢on Monday, ​January‌ 26, 2026. The​ conversation,which lasted approximately 50‌ minutes,focused on the bilateral relationship between‌ the two ‍countries and the broader global agenda,according ⁤to a statement released by the ⁤brazilian presidential office.

During the‍ call, both presidents⁢ agreed that ‌Lula would visit Washington D.C.following his⁤ scheduled trips to India⁢ and South Korea in February. A specific date for the visit⁢ will be determined ‍soon.

“President Trump ‍stated that⁣ the​ economic growth of the‍ United States and ‌Brazil is positive for the region as a whole,”⁢ the statement from Planalto read.

Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the progress of‍ their relationship in recent months,‍ noting the⁣ removal of several tariffs on Brazilian products.
