U.S. Olympic sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson was arrested on a speeding charge after allegedly driving more than 100 mph in Florida on Thursday.
Authorities said Richardson was seen driving 104 mph and dangerously passing other motorists on the highway.
It is the latest controversy in a growing series of off-track issues for the American gold medalist.
In August, Richardson was arrested for allegedly assaulting her boyfriend, fellow American sprinter Christian Coleman, at the Seattle Tacoma Airport.

Sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson was arrested in Portland, Oregon, on March 29, 2024, and charged with felony domestic violence, according to the Portland Police Bureau. The arrest stemmed from an alleged altercation with a woman at a residence in Southwest Portland.
Details of the Arrest
Police responded to a dispatch call at approximately 2:55 a.m. on March 29, 2024, regarding a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers determined that an assault had occurred, and Richardson was taken into custody.According to an affidavit filed by a Portland police officer, Richardson allegedly struck the other woman multiple times during an argument after the woman reportedly confronted Richardson about a relationship with another man. Richardson remains in custody at the Multnomah County Detention Center as of March 30, 2024.
Victim’s Stance
The alleged victim in the case declined to be a victim, according to a police report. This detail could possibly impact the prosecution of the case.
Previous Incident
This is not Richardson’s first public dispute. In January 2023, she was removed from an American Airlines flight after a disagreement with a flight attendant, whom she accused of being disrespectful.
