World Pizza Champion Vincenzo Capuano to Open First Hong Kong Restaurant
Hong Kong pizza enthusiasts are in for a treat. World Pizza Champion Vincenzo Capuano is preparing to launch his first restaurant in the city, located on Lee Tung Avenue in Wan Chai. The pizzeria, ranked 13th in the 2025 “50 Top World Artisan Pizza Chains,” is bringing its innovative take on Neapolitan pizza to Hong Kong.
The arrival was hinted at by new hoardings at Lee Tung Avenue, announcing “Vincenzo Capuano” and “World Pizza Champion.” This marks the brand’s second location in Asia, following a successful opening in Singapore. Chef Vincenzo Capuano, a third-generation pizzaiolo, is renowned for his contemporary Neapolitan pizza style.
Capuano’s brand has already established a strong presence in Europe, with locations in Germany, Kosovo, Spain, and the Netherlands. The Hong Kong restaurant will offer a unique dining experience, highlighted by the use of golden scissors to cut the pizza. This technique, according to reports, prevents compression of the airy crust, ensuring a light and hydrated texture.
The chef’s signature pizza, the Provola e Pepe (smoked cheese and pepper), is a standout offering. It was the pizza Capuano used to win the 2022 World Championship. The pizza features smoked Provola cheese, hand-crushed San Marzano tomatoes, a special pepper blend, and basil.
Vincenzo Capuano utilizes high-hydration dough and flour from the Italian brand Molino Caputo. He is also known for his significant social media presence, with over 800,000 followers on YouTube and over a million on Instagram.
While an exact opening date has not been announced, the restaurant is expected to open soon on Lee Tung Street in Wan Chai.
This addition to Hong Kong’s pizza scene joins other popular pizzerias like Amalfitana, Alice Pizza, and Motorino, offering residents and visitors a diverse range of options for enjoying this celebrated Italian dish.
