Galaxy S26 Ultra: Colors, Specs & February 25 Launch Date Leaked

by Lisa Park - Tech Editor

Samsung is poised to unveil its next generation of flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S26 series, on . As the launch date approaches, details surrounding the Galaxy S26 Ultra – the top-tier model – are solidifying, revealing its anticipated design, color options, and key specifications.

Refined Design and Color Palette

Leaked renders and promotional images suggest that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will feature an evolution of Samsung’s design language, rather than a radical departure. The device is expected to maintain a flat display with minimal bezels and a centered hole-punch camera. A key design change centers around the rear camera module, which will be integrated into a unified, pill-shaped island in the top-left corner, offering a more refined and structured appearance compared to the individually protruding lenses of its predecessor. The S Pen, a defining feature of the Ultra line, will continue to be included.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to be available in at least four colors: Black, White, Cobalt Violet, and Silver Shadow. Cobalt Violet is positioned as the signature color for this generation. Additional color options, including Sky Blue and Pink Gold, may be offered exclusively through Samsung’s online store.

Under the Hood: Specifications and Performance

The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, including a special “For Galaxy” variant with potentially higher clock speeds. This indicates Samsung will not be utilizing the Exynos processor for the Ultra model this year. The device is anticipated to ship with Android 16, overlaid with Samsung’s One UI 8.5, which is already undergoing internal development and is expected to include improvements to the Galaxy AI features and significant visual changes to the user interface.

The phone is tipped to feature a 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED display with a variable refresh rate of 1 to 120Hz. The display is also expected to benefit from an improved Glasstic material and increased brightness.

Camera System Details

The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to retain a quad-camera setup. The primary camera is anticipated to be a 200-megapixel sensor (ISOCELL HP2), accompanied by a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens, a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. The front-facing camera is expected to remain at 12 megapixels for selfies and video calls.

Battery and Storage

According to filings with Anatel, the Brazilian regulatory agency, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will feature a 5,000 mAh battery (model number EB-BS948ABY). This suggests the battery capacity will remain consistent with the previous generation, a detail that may be of note to users hoping for improved battery life. The device is expected to ship with at least 256GB of storage.

Availability and Launch Timeline

Samsung is scheduled to officially unveil the Galaxy S26 series at its Unpacked event on . Retail availability is expected to follow on in key markets. Four variants of the device – SM-S948B/DS, SM-S948B, SM-S948U, and SM-S948U1 – have been certified by the FCC, confirming the impending launch.

While an orange color option was initially considered, it was reportedly cancelled by Samsung following critical feedback. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to measure approximately 7mm in thickness, representing a slight reduction in profile compared to previous models.
