A series of violent attacks on students in France have recently come to light, prompting investigations and raising concerns about safety in and around schools. On February 4, 2026, a schoolgirl was violently beaten by two other girls in Saint-Genis-Laval, near Lyon, according to a gendarmerie source.

This incident follows a case in Loudéac where seven teenagers were found guilty on Wednesday in Saint-Brieuc of violence in assembly against a student from Fulgence-Bienvenüe High School. The attack, which occurred last September, was filmed and went viral, causing a “media and political storm,” according to reports.

In Lyon, another student, identified only as Théo, was brutally assaulted by six teenagers on January 31, 2026. The attackers reportedly beat him and stripped him. The severity of the attack led to concerns that he “could have died.”

Authorities have opened an investigation into the Saint-Genis-Laval assault, classifying it as “aggravated violence,” according to the Lyon prosecutor’s office. The suspects in that case are believed to be other female students.
