Stylish Stays: New Hotels in Austin, Dubai, Rome, and Beyond

As the new year begins, travelers are looking for fresh experiences and stylish accommodations in vibrant cities around the globe. From the live oak trees and peacocks of Austin, Texas, to the glittering shores of Dubai, and the historic streets of Rome, a selection of new and renovated hotels are offering unique stays for city lovers. A recent roundup highlights five properties that stand out for their design, location, and immersive experiences.

In Austin, Texas, The Inn at Green Pastures, which opened last month, provides a tranquil escape within the bustling capital. The 63-room-and-suite inn is located in the Bouldin Creek neighborhood and is part of Green Pastures, a property on the National Register of Historic Places with a history stretching back over 130 years. Originally home to a racially integrated restaurant—a rarity for its time—the property now features Mattie’s, offering farm-to-table American cuisine, and Henry’s, the inn’s bar and restaurant. Guests can enjoy a Grassfield Farm beef burger, beef tallow steak fries, and an Atomic Tanlines cocktail (bourbon, Meletti amaro, vermouth and peach) after exploring Austin’s renowned music scene.

The Inn at Green Pastures was spearheaded by La Corsha, the hospitality group behind the restoration of the Driskill hotel, and designed by Clayton Korte. Rooms feature rich, earthy hues and hardwood floors, with some offering balconies. A pool and patio are available year-round, allowing guests to enjoy the Texas sunshine.

Beyond the United States, the list of stylish hotels extends internationally. The article highlights a property perched above downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico. a neoclassical gem near the Spanish Steps in Rome; and a glossy resort in Dubai, United Arab Emirates – specifically, the Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab in Dubai.

For those considering a trip to Japan, Osaka is also featured as a destination with appealing hotel options. According to a search on Kayak, flights from Austin to Osaka currently start around $458, though prices are subject to change. Google Flights also shows options, with prices starting at $757. The search results indicate that travelers have frequently selected airlines like United, Lufthansa, and All Nippon Airways when booking flights from Austin to Osaka.

The growing interest in Austin as a travel destination is also noted. Fora Travel identified Austin as a “hotspot for hip” travelers in January 2024, suggesting a continuing trend of interest in the city’s unique culture and offerings.

The selection of hotels emphasizes a desire for immersive experiences, connecting travelers with local cuisines, architecture, and museums.
