Valentine’s Day Events 2024: Des Moines Weekend Guide

Love is in the air this Valentine’s Day weekend in Des Moines, with a variety of events planned across the metro for both couples and those enjoying time with friends. From romantic dinners to lively festivals and unique experiences, there’s something for everyone.

For those seeking a refined dining experience, several restaurants are offering special Valentine’s Day menus. HoQ is providing a four-course menu with optional wine or cocktail pairings on February 11, 12 and 14, and reservations are being accepted online. Other options include Motley School Tavern, Mulberry Street Tavern, Alba, Clyde’s Fine Diner, and Republic on Grand. The Hall is hosting a unique Valentine’s Day Tomahawk Dinner for two this Saturday, February 13, featuring a ribeye cooked on a pitchfork.

Beyond dining, Inner Space DSM offers couples a chance to connect through a sound bath or massage. For those looking for entertainment, the Winter Blues Fest kicks off Friday, February 13, and continues through Saturday, February 14, at the Marriott Hotel, featuring 20 acts across five stages. Tickets are $60 for a weekend pass, $30 for Friday, and $40 for Saturday until 10 p.m. On February 12, with an additional $15 charge at the door.

Sports fans can catch an Iowa Wild game on either Friday, February 13, at 7 p.m. Or Saturday, February 14, at 6 p.m. Friday’s game is Women in Sports Night, offering fans the opportunity to meet players from the Minnesota Frost. Saturday is Pink in the Rink Night, encouraging attendees to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness. Tickets start at $20.25.

For a more unconventional evening, xBk Live is hosting “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’ Valentine Ball” on Saturday, February 14, at 7 p.m., offering a retro school dance-inspired night of fun for $18.94 in advance. Firetrucker Brewery in Ankeny is hosting a Valentine’s Stand-Up Comedy Showcase on Saturday, February 14, from 8-9:30 p.m., with tickets priced at $12.51, and options to purchase chocolates and flowers.

Those looking to plan ahead for home improvements or spring gardening can visit the Des Moines Home + Garden Show, running from Friday, February 13, through Sunday, February 15, at the Iowa Events Center. The show will feature over 400 exhibitors and industry experts, with tickets available online for $12 or at the door for $14.
