2026 Genesis Invitational: Tee Times, Featured Groups & How to Watch Round 1

by David Thompson - Sports Editor

The 2026 Genesis Invitational gets underway Thursday, February 19, at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, California. A field of 72 players will compete for the title in the 100th edition of the tournament, with a cut after 36 holes determining the final two rounds – the low 50 and ties, plus anyone within 10 shots of the lead, will advance.

Scheffler Headlines Star-Studded Field

All eyes will be on Scottie Scheffler as he returns to Riviera, a venue where he finished tenth in 2024. Since then, Scheffler has added three major championships to his resume and solidified his position as the world’s number one golfer. He’s maintained that form into 2026, with a string of top-4 finishes and one victory already under his belt. The Genesis Invitational, a Signature Event with a $20 million purse and a $4 million winner’s share, presents another significant opportunity for Scheffler to continue his dominant run.

Scheffler will tee off at 2:37 p.m. ET alongside Xander Schauffele and Si Woo Kim in what is shaping up to be a marquee grouping. The tournament marks the return of the event to its traditional home after being relocated to Torrey Pines in 2025 due to wildfires in the Los Angeles area. Tiger Woods, the tournament host, is present this week, though he will not be competing as he continues his recovery from surgery.

Key Groupings and Broadcast Details

Beyond Scheffler’s group, several other notable pairings will draw attention throughout the first two rounds. Rory McIlroy, fresh off a T14 finish at Pebble Beach, will play alongside Tommy Fleetwood and Collin Morikawa. This group features the recent winner at Pebble Beach, the defending champion from 2025 (at Torrey Pines), and a player seeking his first top-three result at Riviera. Ludvig Åberg, the 2025 champion, is also in the field and will tee off at 11:56 a.m. ET with J.J. Spaun and Hideki Matsuyama.

Golf Channel will provide live coverage of the opening round from 4:00 p.m. To 8:00 p.m. ET. For those looking to catch the action earlier, PGA Tour Live on ESPN+ will offer exclusive streaming coverage beginning at 10:15 a.m. ET, including featured groups and featured holes. Paramount+ will also simulcast CBS’s coverage.
