The status match program allows members of select airline and hotel loyalty programs to receive upfront Lotusmiles Titanium, Gold, or Platinum status for a period of 12 months. Application fees range from US$99 to US$299, depending on the target tier and the originating program. This provides an immediate pathway to benefits such as priority check-in, extra baggage allowance, and lounge access – privileges enjoyed not only on Vietnam Airlines but also on its 18 SkyTeam partner airlines, including China Airlines, Delta, and KLM.

The program accepts status matches from 47 airlines, including British Airways, Cathay Pacific, and Singapore Airlines. Notably, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Elite Gold, PPS Club, and Solitaire PPS Club members can directly match to Lotusmiles Platinum, the highest tier available through the program. The program also extends to hotel loyalty programs, with matches available from chains like Accor, Marriott, and Hilton, though these matches are capped at Lotusmiles Gold status.

Requests are processed within three business days, with status updates following within five business days. It’s important to note that after the initial 12-month period, members must meet the standard qualification requirements to maintain their elite status.

Boosting Mileage Earnings with the Status Booster

For those who don’t qualify for a direct status match, or prefer to earn status organically, Vietnam Airlines offers the Status Booster. This program allows Lotusmiles members to earn 2X or 3X the usual qualifying miles on Vietnam Airlines-operated flights for a 90-day period. Subscription fees are US$99 for 2X miles and US$198 for 3X miles, with Vietnamese residents offered equivalent pricing in local currency (VND 4M and VND 7M respectively).

Unlike the instant gratification of a status match, the booster is designed for travelers with upcoming flights who are close to achieving a higher tier. The program automatically renews every 90 days unless cancelled, and activation takes 48 hours. Transactions will be coded as MCC 7372 (Computer Programming, Data Processing and Integrated System Design Services).

To illustrate the potential impact, consider a round-trip Economy Class Flex ticket from Ho Chi Minh City to Frankfurt. Without the booster, this flight might earn 1.1X qualifying miles. With the 3X booster activated, the mileage accrual is tripled, potentially allowing a traveler to reach Platinum status with a single booking.

Lotusmiles Elite Benefits: A SkyTeam Advantage

Lotusmiles elite status unlocks a range of benefits within the SkyTeam alliance. Platinum members, equivalent to SkyTeam Elite Plus, enjoy lounge access, SkyPriority services, extra baggage allowance, and a 100% mileage bonus. Gold members (SkyTeam Elite) receive priority services, extra baggage, a 50% mileage bonus, and complimentary upgrades to Premium Economy, subject to availability. Vietnam Airlines Gold members also enjoy lounge access on Vietnam Airlines flights and select SkyTeam codeshares.

The benefits of Lotusmiles Titanium status include priority services, extra baggage allowance, and a 30% mileage bonus.
