A chance for Harris to be the first female president? “If Biden resigns…”
The Hill, an American political media outlet, reported on the 10th (local time) that an associate of Vice President Kamala Harris, the former Democratic presidential candidate, said that President Joe Biden should resign before the end of his term to give Harris a chance to become president.
According to The Hill, Jamal Simmons, who served as Vice President Harris’ chief communications officer, recently appeared on CNN’s ‘State of the Union’ and said, “Biden was a phenomenal president who fulfilled many of the promises he made, but there is one more thing he can achieve.” “You can make Kamala Harris president by resigning from office within 30 days,” he said.
Simmons argued that this would allow “Democrats to dominate the news at a time when they need to learn how to do what the public wants, without the drama and transparency that politics requires.”
Simmons’s remarks came at the end of a discussion about what is the most important thing the Biden administration should pursue during the remaining two months of its term.
According to the U.S. Constitution, in the event of the president’s death, resignation, or inability to serve as president, the presidency is inherited by the vice president, who also serves as president of the United States Senate.
Other panelists who appeared on the broadcast reacted to Simmons’ remark with a straight face, showing surprise, as if it was not a realistic statement.
After appearing on the broadcast, Simmons posted a post on social media again calling for Biden’s resignation.
“Biden should resign and make Harris the first female president,” he said on I wrote:
American media, including Politico, reported that Vice President Harris, who was soundly defeated by President-elect Donald Trump in the presidential election held on the 5th, has not responded at all to Simmons’ remarks.
