A press conference held today at Naples City Hall unveiled details of the project, emphasizing traffic safety and organ donation. The ”Strade di Rinascita” project will culminate may 2 with the unveiling of a mural by artist Trisha Palma within the Comicon grounds. The artwork will transform the experiences of lives cut short by traffic accidents into a vibrant comic strip, serving as a memorial and a call for greater awareness.
Mural Dedication and Foundation Involvement
The mural will specifically honor young lives lost to traffic incidents, including 16-year-old Giovanna Orefice from Melito. Throughout the four-day festival,organizations including the Silvia Ruotolo Onlus Foundation,the Rita Committee,the Giovanna Oreefice Association,and the Napoli Bike Festival will host booths to promote traffic safety education.

Luigi Granata, founder of the Rita Committee, dedicated to his 27-year-old daughter Rita who died after being struck by a car May 5, 2024, in Fuorigrotta, emphasized the importance of sharing these stories. “telling the stories of our children has an educational value for the new generations so that the victims of road traffic power are not only paying,” Granata said.
Families of other victims, including 20-year-old Sara Romano, who was hit by a car on the same day as Rita, and the families of Lucia Morra and Francesco Altamura, who died in a head-on collision Sept. 30, 2023, will also participate. The parents of 17-year-old Domenico Cirillo, who was struck while crossing Vial Dhorn Feb. 1, 2025, will also be present.

Vincenzo Santagada, Naples health city councilor, stated that “Education and Prevention” are the key themes of the initiative.Other city officials present at the conference included Edoardo Cosenza,City Councilor for Mobility; Alessandra Clementin,City Councilor; Nino Simeone,Chairman of the City Council Commission for Mobility; and Pasqual Esposito,Chairman of the City Council commission for Legality.
