Gran Canaria, Spain – A multidisciplinary project titled “A Journey through the History of Gran Canaria” is set to debut, blending live opera with haute couture and visual arts. The performances,scheduled throughout April and May,will take place in four locations: the Santa Catalina Hotel,the Cueva Pintada museum and ⁢archaeological Park,the Martín​ Chirino ⁢Foundation,and the Dominican Spirituality House of ⁢teror.

“A Journey through the History of Gran Canaria” aims to merge live operatic performance with ​high fashion on a staged catwalk. The production will weave stories⁢ through opera and fashion, showcasing four distinct periods of music history, from the Baroque era to contemporary spanish compositions.

Director’s Vision

‍ ⁢ During a presentation ​at the Atlantic center for Modern Art, Méndez, accompanied by the⁣ Minister of Culture of the Grancanario Cabildo, Guacimara Medina, described ​the show as “a trip through time and space oriented to a 21st-century audience.” The production features four opera⁢ singers,two model-actors,and a narrator,creating an immersive experience.

​ Medina stated the show aims to “attract new audiences to​ the cultural experience represented ⁢in⁢ this case with very heterogeneous artistic and scenic languages ​​and disciplines, while putting in value the qualities of four cultural and heritage spaces of the island and its possibilities to develop in the same cultural projects of a reduced nature oriented to the citizenship.”

  • “The Arrival”: April 3, 7 p.m., santa Catalina Hotel. A tribute to cinema.
  • “Origins”: April 10, 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8 p.m., Cueva Pintada Archaeological⁤ Museum and Park. A journey to indigenous roots.
