Quito – The Sucre National Theater Foundation (FTNS) and the Mamacuchara cultural Center are extending⁤ the celebration of International Women’s Day (March 8) with ‌a series ‍of musical events throughout March. ‌the program will take place in various venues across Quito, showcasing the work of female composers and performers.

A key component of the celebration is the “residence of sound creators,” a program designed to empower⁣ women in music and sound art. This initiative provides a space⁣ for exploration, creation, and leadership, allowing artists to express thier unique voices and experiences. The residency will be held from March 24-29 at the FTNS and other locations.

The residency brings together experienced sound artists Nathalia Madrigal, Taki Amaru, and Denisse Santos with emerging talents for an intergenerational collaboration. Through discussions, workshops, and informal exchanges, the⁢ program fosters dialogue ⁤about‌ creativity, ‌resilience, and networking within the Ecuadorian music industry.

Diana Gallegos

Diana Gallegos is an Ecuadorian clarinetist with international training. She‍ received her early musical education⁣ from her father, Sixto Gallegos, at the National Conservatory of Music of⁤ Quito. A graduate of the National Conservatory of Music of Quito⁣ and the Technical University of Manabí, she holds a Master’s degree in Musical Research from the University of La Rioja, Spain. She is a clarinet ‌teacher and chamber musician.

Gallegos ‌has performed extensively, holding ​concerts, recitals, and master classes in argentina, mexico, Venezuela, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, and Europe. She frequently⁣ appears as a⁢ soloist with professional orchestras and bands in Ecuador, premiering new works. She has also been involved in organizing the Clarinet Festival ‘Quito ⁣Centro del Mundo,’ which provides opportunities for young Ecuadorian clarinet⁤ students to‌ learn from international instructors.

In 2020, she ⁤won third prize in⁣ international orchestra auditions held by the samnium University ⁤of Music. Currently,she is a ⁢member of the metropolitan Symphony Band of Quito,heads the⁢ Clarinet Chair at the Fosje music school,and serves⁣ as artistic director ‌for several ensembles. She is also preparing‍ her first ‌recording with ​the Galician-Maeda ⁢duo.

Ángela Valencia

Ángela Valencia is‍ a soprano from Quito.She began her musical studies‍ at ‍the ​Association of Professional Artists of Pichincha ⁢and continued at the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ecuador (fosje) under Daniela Guzmán.She furthered her vocal training at the National Conservatory of Music with irina Valchak and was​ a member of the⁣ Choir of the house of Ecuadorian Culture.

Valencia has participated‍ in‌ vocal technique workshops with Boris Cepeda and Yanzelmalee Rivera, and master classes ​with stefano vizioli and Richard Gordon. She‌ currently studies with María Fernanda Argotti ⁤at the Cultural Foundation Harmony and is a‌ member of the mixed choir City of Quito at the Sucre National​ Theater Foundation⁢ (FTNS). She has participated in operatic,chamber,and choral productions at the FTNS since October 2011.
