A Real Pain: Jesse Eisenberg’s Indie Film Hits Theaters Nationwide
Jesse Eisenberg’s new movie, A Real Pain, opened in select theaters earlier this month and earned over $900,000. Due to this success, Searchlight Pictures is expanding its release into more theaters this weekend.
Eisenberg wrote, directed, and produced A Real Pain, a light drama about two cousins, David and Benji, who tour Poland in memory of their grandmother, a Holocaust survivor. David, played by Eisenberg, is uptight, while Benji, played by Kieran Culkin, is free-spirited. As they explore their family history, they learn to understand each other better.
- A Real Pain* opens in wide release across the U.S. on Friday, November 15. It is currently not available to stream online.
The film is not on Netflix or HBO Max, as it is a Searchlight Pictures release, owned by Disney. Searchlight films typically land on Hulu, which is also a Disney company.
While A Real Pain is in theaters now, it is expected to stream on Hulu later. For example, another Searchlight film, Kinds of Kindness, appeared on digital platforms two months after its theatrical release and on Hulu shortly after. If A Real Pain follows a similar timeline, it may be available to stream by January 2025.
