The NBA’s board of governors has given the green light to the sale of the minnesota Timberwolves and the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx to a group fronted by former MLB star Alex Rodriguez and e-commerce entrepreneur Marc lore. The league announced the unanimous approval on Tuesday.
Rodriguez and Lore, who previously held minority stakes in the Timberwolves, are set to finalize the $1.5 billion acquisition in the coming days, according to an ESPN report.

The transfer of controlling interest to Rodriguez and Lore began almost four years prior. Glen taylor originally purchased the Timberwolves in 1994.

A press conference introducing Rodriguez and Lore is planned for July in Las Vegas, coinciding with the NBA summer league. Lore is expected to be the Timberwolves’ primary governor, while rodriguez will serve as the alternate governor.
