The NBA’s board of governors has given the green light to the sale of the minnesota Timberwolves and the WNBA’s Minnesota Lynx to a group fronted by former MLB star Alex Rodriguez and e-commerce entrepreneur Marc lore. The league announced the unanimous⁢ approval on Tuesday.

Rodriguez and ⁢Lore,⁣ who previously held minority stakes in the‍ Timberwolves, are set to finalize the $1.5 billion‍ acquisition in ⁣the coming days, ‍according‍ to an ESPN report.

The transfer of controlling interest⁤ to Rodriguez and⁤ Lore began almost four years ⁣prior. Glen taylor originally purchased the Timberwolves in 1994.
