A whopping 181… “The holder of the most Guinness Book records is a 39-year-old American man”
The Washington Post (WP) reported on the 28th that an American man has become the person who holds the most Guinness World Records at the same time, with 181 records.
According to the report, David Rush, 39, who lives in Boise, Idaho, was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records earlier this month as the 181st person to “break a record.”
Rush broke 55 records in 30 seconds in January, setting a new world record, and has since submitted a request for the record to be included in the Guinness Book of World Records along with supporting documentation.
Rush said that while the Guinness Book of World Records does not have a list of the most concurrent record holders, he believes Italy’s Silvio Sava currently holds 180 records, meaning his 181st record means he is the holder of the most concurrent records.
Rush explained that although Sabah has set over 200 Guinness World Records over the years, about 20 of them have already been broken by others.
Guinness Book spokeswoman Kylie Galloway also confirmed in an emailed statement to WP that Rush is one of the most record-breakers of all time.
Since first making it into the Guinness Book of World Records in 2015 when he successfully juggled blindfolded for 6 minutes and 34 seconds, Rush has gone on to set a number of other records, including fitting 59 marshmallows in his mouth in one minute and balancing 101 rolls of toilet paper on his head.
And earlier this year, he set his 180th Guinness World Record for the most balloons popped with chopsticks in one minute.
Rush said that after setting his first Guinness World Record, he set his sights on setting more records, and after setting his 180th record, he became greedy and wanted to become the record holder for the most records.
After setting his 181st Guinness World Record, Rush posted a video on YouTube explaining the hard work it took to achieve his dream.
Rush said he has always been competitive with his brothers since he was little, playing soccer, table tennis and swimming, and he feels a great sense of accomplishment every time he sets a new record.
He also pledged to make greater efforts to maintain the record for the most simultaneous possessions.
Rush graduated from MIT in 2007, worked for several years in technology companies, and currently works as a motivational speaker.
Rush, who has 95,000 social media followers, has been posting all of her Guinness World Record attempts on her website, Instagram, and TikTok since she set her first record in 2015. Yonhap News
