A24 Expands UK TV Operations wiht Lookout point Executive hires

A24 is bolstering its U.K. presence by recruiting Laura Lankester and Will Johnston, co-CEOs of Lookout Point, a BBC Studios-owned production company. Lookout Point is known for prestige dramas including “Les Miserables” and “Happy Valley.” Lankester and Johnston will join Piers Wenger and Rose garnett, who were hired from the BBC in 2022, to grow A24’s international TV operations and expand its British series slate.
Lankester and Johnston will depart Lookout Point this autumn. They will continue to oversee Netflix’s adaptation of “pride and Prejudice,” written by Dolly Alderton and starring Emma Corrin, Jack Lowden, and Olivia Colman. Lankester will also supervise BritBox’s “Tommy and Tuppence.”
A24’s U.K. expansion occurs as its British series slate gains momentum. Recent commissions include Molly Manny Walker’s “Major Players” (Channel 4), Miriam Battye’s “The Husbands” (Apple TV+) starring Juno Temple, Leo Reich’s “It Gets Worse” (Channel 4), Michaela Coel’s “First Day on Earth” (BBC/HBO) and Alice Birch’s “Ministry of Time” (BBC). The company is also developing Adam Curtis’ BBC series “shifty,” Season 2 of “Dreaming Whilst Black,” “Such Brave Girls,” adaptations of “Magnolia Parks,” and a Liverpool FC series by Jack Thorne.

Mark Linsey, head of scripted at BBC Studios, wished Lankester and johnston well.He noted they would continue to oversee “Pride and Prejudice” for Netflix and “Tommy and Tuppence” for BritBox. Linsey added that lookout Point remains creatively strong, with new leadership to be announced soon.
Lankester’s executive producer credits at Lookout Point include “Gentleman jack,” “A Suitable Boy,” and “Last Tango in Halifax.” She also script-produced “War and peace” and “Les Misérables.” Johnston script-edited “War & Peace” and “To Walk Invisible.” He recently delivered “Renegade Nell” and the final series of ”Happy Valley.”
