AAC Basketball Tournaments Move to Alabama and Florida

The American Athletic Conference (AAC) is changing venues for its postseason basketball tournaments. After five years in texas, the AAC men’s and women’s tournaments are heading to new locations.
Next year’s tournaments will be played at Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama. In 2027 and 2028, the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida, will serve as host.
AAC athletic directors gave their approval to the new venues,marking the first time these cities will host the league tournaments.Memphis, Tennessee, and Wichita, Kansas, were also considered as finalists.
The basketball tournaments had been held at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth,Texas,for the past five seasons. The venue was also scheduled to host the 2020 AAC men’s tournament before its cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“we are thrilled to bring our basketball championships to birmingham and Tampa,” AAC commissioner Tim Pernetti said. “Our top priority when we began this bid process was to deliver the best possible experience for our student-athletes. the ability of Birmingham and tampa to accommodate both championships and the year-round support that we will receive from their respective local committees will help to make these events an unforgettable experience for our players and fans.”
