Aaron Rodgers Hints at Final NFL Season with Steelers

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP, suggested Tuesday that the upcoming 2025 season will likely be his last. Rodgers, 41, made the comments during an interview on “The Pat McAfee Show.”
Rodgers signed a one-year, $13.65 million contract with Pittsburgh after a stint with the New York Jets. He previously played 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers,where he set numerous franchise records.
“Yeah, I’m pretty sure this is it,” Rodgers said. “That’s why we just did a one-year deal…this was really about finishing with a lot of love and fun and peace for the career that I’ve had.”
Rodgers holds the Packers’ records for touchdown passes (475), completion percentage (65.3), and passer rating (103.6). He trails only Brett Favre in passing yards (59,055) and completions (5,001).
After his release from the Jets, Rodgers chose to sign with the Steelers. His time with the Jets was marked by an Achilles tendon tear early in the 2023 season, followed by a 5-12 record and a missed playoff appearance in 2024.
The Steelers are scheduled to face the Jets in Week 1 on Sept.7. Rodgers will play against his former team, Green Bay, in Week 8 on “Sunday Night Football.”
“I’m going to give the Steelers everything that I got and empty the tank and be super cozy and satisfied with whatever happens,” Rodgers said.
Rodgers also spoke about his relationship with Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, noting their weekly conversations during his decision-making process. He also mentioned attending a cookout at Tomlin’s house after signing his contract.
Rodgers said he felt physically strong in 2024 and that his Achilles tendon felt “amazing.” He also mentioned plans to work out with teammates in Malibu, California.
Rodgers expressed his frustration with public interest in his personal life, particularly his recent marriage, emphasizing his desire for privacy.
