CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Abbotsford Canucks are the 2025 Calder Cup champions, defeating the Charlotte Checkers 3-2 Monday night. linus Karlsson’s late second-period goal proved to be the game-winner in the American Hockey League championship series.
Abbotsford’s victory marks the first Calder Cup for the Vancouver Canucks’ AHL affiliate. The team, coached by Manny Malhotra, is the first Canadian team to win the title since the Toronto Marlies in 2018. The Abbotsford Canucks’ championship run saw them overcome several strong opponents in the Pacific Division and Western Conference playoffs.
Sammy Blais and Danila Klimovich also scored for Abbotsford. Arshdeep Bains contributed two assists.Goalie Arturs Silovs had 28 saves and was awarded the Jack A.
