Højlund’s United Future in Doubt as AC Milan Expresses Interest
Rasmus Højlund, the 22-year-old Danish forward, finds himself at a crossroads with manchester United, as Italian giants AC Milan have publicly signaled their interest in securing his signature. This progress comes after Højlund was notably absent from the starting lineup in United’s Premier League opener against Arsenal on Sunday, a match they lost 1-0 at Old Trafford.
A Disappointing return too Form?
Højlund’s situation at Manchester United has become increasingly precarious. after a £72 million ($92.5m) move from Atalanta in August 2023, the young striker has managed only 14 goals in 62 Premier League appearances. Despite his desire to compete for a place in the squad, as he stated to sources, manager Ruben Amorim opted to start summer signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, alongside newly arrived Benjamin Sesko on the bench, leaving Højlund watching from the sidelines against Arsenal.
Milan’s Interest and Potential Deal
AC Milan, however, see potential in the young striker. Having previously played in Italy with Atalanta, Højlund retains a positive reputation within Serie A. Milan’s sporting director, Igli Tare, confirmed the club’s interest on Sunday, stating, Højlund is a good option for us. We are thinking about him, but in the transfer market, you never know what could happen.
Negotiations are expected to be complex. Sources indicate that Manchester United is seeking a fee of around £30 million for Højlund, while Milan is reportedly exploring a loan deal or a lower transfer fee.
