Assistant Mental Health Project Manager Position Overview
The Assistant Mental Health Project Manager will participate in implementing activities related to the genrp II project in the Gao region (Gao and Bourem areas). This includes providing individual and group mental health and psychosocial support (SMPS) within communities affected by crisis,with a particular focus on women and children facing malnutrition. The role also involves promoting gender equality within Urenas and possibly in the broader community.
The assistant manager will also support the health and nutrition department by:
- Working to reduce illness and death rates associated with acute malnutrition and related diseases, while concurrently strengthening community resilience.
- Improving the integration of mental health and psychosocial support (SMPS) considerations into implemented PCIMA programs.
- Enhancing the quality of malnutrition prevention and management strategies to ensure the relevance, quality, and technical innovation of SMPS interventions.
Key Responsibilities
Implementing SMPS Activities
- Planning mental health and psychosocial support (SMPS) activities for projects.
- Identifying and supporting children with behavioral and personality disorders in Ureni.
- Providing training and support to health workers and social assistants on psychomotor stimulation and psychosocial support for malnourished mother-child pairs.
- Organizing stimulation and psycho-social support sessions for beneficiaries and their caregivers.
- Providing formative supervision of individual and group animation sessions.
- Collaborating with various levels of the Malian health system to integrate SMPSP activities and care into the minimum service package offered by health centers.
- Ensuring the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of SMSPS activities.

- Creating safe spaces and ensuring confidential listening.
- Supporting survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) and developing care action plans.

Team Management
- contributing to the day-to-day management of the team, in accordance with the organizationS principles and ethics, in collaboration with the project manager.

Financial and Administrative Management

- Monitor budget consumption and budgetary planning in relation to scheduled activities, informing supervisors of any discrepancies and proposing solutions.
- Report any breaches of internal regulations or security rules, as well as any misconduct or professional incapacity of team members, to the project manager, administration, and base manager.
- Coordinate collaboration with state partners and private providers.
- integrate identified partners into activities and participate in strengthening their capacities, including technical services, national NGOs, and civil society organizations.
Logistics management
While the mission logistics service is primarily responsible for logistics management, the assistant will:
- Ensure proper inventory management (medical and non-medical products, equipment, etc.) and maintain the cleanliness of storage areas.
- Prepare and track purchase requests related to SMSP activities, in coordination with the administrator and logistician.
- Develop weekly plans,in coordination with the logistics department,for all logistical resources necessary for the triumphant implementation of project activities.
Project Monitoring and Evaluation
- Collect secondary data and information feedback from target populations.
- Participate in the development of a data monitoring and analysis system.
- Check, compile, and analyze weekly and monthly data.
