Actor Krishnakumar Appointed as NFDC Chairman

The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has appointed Malayalam actor and politician G. Krishnakumar as the part-time Chairman of the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC).

The appointment was formalized via an order dated April 8, 2026. Krishnakumar will serve as the Non-Official Director Cum Chairman of the body for a three-year term.

G. Krishnakumar is a known figure in the Malayalam film industry and has a professional history as a former Doordarshan news reader.

In addition to his entertainment career, Krishnakumar is active in politics. He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in February 2021.

His political experience includes contesting the Assembly elections from Thiruvananthapuram five years prior to his appointment and contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Kollam in 2024.
