Actor Quinton Aaron Awoke From Coma to Discover Wife’s Hidden Marriage Status, Shifting His Outlook on Life and Health

Actor Quinton Aaron says he awoke from a four-day coma to a revelation that reshaped his personal life.

The 41-year-old, best known for his role in The Blind Side, had been hospitalized after suffering a spinal stroke earlier this year. His condition required life support and left him unconscious for several days, according to interviews and reports.

When Aaron regained consciousness, his family delivered unexpected news. They told him his wife, Margarita DeLeon, was still legally married to another man.

Health Crisis Leads to Discovery

Aaron collapsed in January and was later diagnosed with a spinal stroke, a rare condition that can cause paralysis. Doctors placed him on life support as his condition worsened, and he remained in a coma for four days.

During that time, an attorney reviewing his case uncovered records related to DeLeon’s prior marriage. The findings indicated she had never finalized a divorce from a man she married in 1992.

Aaron said he had relied on her assurances throughout their relationship.

“The entire time we were together, she told me she had been divorced for 10 plus years,” he said.

He added that she even reassured officials before their 2024 wedding.

“She even told the person where we were getting married, ‘Oh yes, I have all the documents,’” Aaron said.

Because of the legal status, DeLeon could not make medical decisions on his behalf. Aaron said the situation led doctors and family members to remove her from that role.

Conflicting Accounts and Recovery

DeLeon has disputed Aaron’s account. She said she believed her previous divorce had been finalized.

“When I told Quinton back in the hospital bed… I wasn’t aware of it,” she said in a televised interview.

Her estranged husband later filed for divorce in early 2026, according to reports.

Aaron acknowledged he did not independently verify her marital status.

“That’s my biggest mistake,” he said during the interview.

Despite the personal turmoil, Aaron remains focused on recovery. He is undergoing physical therapy in Atlanta and working to regain mobility.

Doctors have linked his stroke to underlying health conditions, including diabetes.

Aaron said the experience has changed his outlook on both health and relationships.

“If I had a chance to do it over, I would have done my due diligence,” he said.
