Czech actor Zdeněk Godla, best known for his breakthrough roles in Czech film and television, is taking a job as a grocery delivery courier in the Ústecký Region after years of managing severe financial debt, Prima Ženy reported.
Financial Pressures and Insolvency Proceedings
Godla accumulated substantial long-term debts from past financial troubles. Under his current insolvency terms, every theatrical and television honorarium he earns goes directly to his insolvency administrator.
To make ends meet, the actor turned to civilian employment outside the entertainment industry. Do fabriky nemůžu, protože tam když nepřijdeš kvůli natáčení, hned máš áčko a čau. Vyhoděj tě. Ale rozvozy se dají naplánovat. Ozvali se mi z Košíku, tak budu rozvážet nákupy po Ústeckém kraji,
Godla explained in an interview with the magazine Reportér, noting that inflexible factory shifts would conflict with his filming schedules.
Career Discovery and Relocation Plans
Godla entered the public eye largely through the efforts of screenwriter Petr Kolečko and producer-director Tomáš Magnusek, who cast him in projects that transformed him into an actor of Romani origin with widespread recognition in the Czech Republic.
Despite his visibility on screen, Godla lives modestly. Since the beginning of the year, he has resided with his family in a village near Žatec, but they are preparing to move back to Chomutov, where they lived previously.
Synové teď stálou práci nemají, proto se stěhujeme. Na vesnici totiž není vůbec nic,
Godla stated regarding the upcoming relocation. He is the father of three adult children and a grandfather to five grandchildren.
Background and Personal History
Long before his acting career began, Godla faced legal trouble at age eighteen. Following a celebration where alcohol ran out, he and friends participated in a robbery that resulted in a five-and-a-half-year prison sentence.
Reflecting on that period, Godla described the experience to Prima Ženy as harsh but survivable, noting that he spent his time working on railway construction and clearing stones to pass the days.
Shortly after his release, he met his wife, Jana, at a discotheque. The couple married after a one-year courtship and celebrated their twenty-sixth wedding anniversary this year.
