Actress Kasthuri Arrested in Hyderabad for Controversial Hate Speech Against Telugu People
Actress Kasthuri Arrested in Hyderabad
Actress Kasthuri was arrested in Hyderabad for making hate speech against Telugu-speaking people. The police tracked her to a film producer’s house two days after the Madras High Court denied her anticipatory bail request.
Kasthuri had made controversial remarks about the Telugu community on November 3. Her statements led to multiple complaints regarding her derogatory comments on the ancestry of Telugu people.
After her bail plea was rejected on November 14, she went into hiding and turned off her mobile phone. She posted on social media, expressing regret for her comments. She claimed her speech was misinterpreted for political reasons.
The state government argued against granting her bail, citing that her speech was a deliberate attempt to incite conflict and disturb peace in the state. Police are bringing her back to Chennai to present her before a magistrate court.
