New Album Celebrates Gunars Rozenberg
Jazz music publishing house Jersika Records has released “Acumirkļi” (Moments), a new jazz suite by maestro Raimonds Pauls and the Latvian Radio Big Band. The suite is a five-part composition dedicated to trumpeter and arranger Gunars rozenberg.
Kārlis Vanags, the artistic director and conductor of the Latvian Radio Big Band, handled the arrangements for the suite.
recording Details and Artistic Vision
Pauls noted that the recording process allowed him to refocus on jazz piano, a pursuit he often found limited time for previously.He described the resulting album as sounding “alive.”
The album was recorded in March 2025 at both the Latvian Radio big Band studio and Pauls’ home in Riga, with Vanags also serving as sound director. The cover design features photography by andrej Strokin and was created by Mareks and Edgars Ameriki.
Availability and Live Presentation
“Acumirkļi” is available for purchase at all music stores, through the Jersika Records website, and on the Bandcamp platform. Listeners can also stream the album on popular services like Spotify.
An album presentation concert is scheduled for February 19, 2026, at the Spīķeru concert hall in Riga.
