adam,an 11-year-old Palestinian child who lost family members in an ‍Israeli⁤ raid in⁣ Gaza,has arrived in Milan with his mother,Dr. Alaa Al-Najjar, for medical treatment.A humanitarian flight transported them to Italy, ⁤where adam will receive care for limb fractures ⁣at Niguarda ‌hospital.

Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani⁢ greeted ​Adam at Linate airport, presenting him with ⁣a football after learning ‌of the boy’s love for ‍the sport.This⁢ humanitarian aid is part of a larger effort.

Tajani emphasized Italy’s commitment to health evacuation operations for Palestinian patients. To ‍date, 133 children from Gaza have⁤ been hospitalized in Italy through these efforts, supported by the Italian ‍government ‍and Minister of‍ Defense ⁢Guido ⁤Crosetto.

“Thank you very much,” said Dr. Al-Najjar. “I have no words. It ⁢is a huge pleasure ​to be hear in Italy.” Tajani responded, “Welcome to Italy, we are happy ​to ⁣have⁢ you here.”

Since last year,Italy ⁣has received 300 ⁢patients ‌and their companions,directing them to specialized hospitals based ⁢on their specific injuries and trauma.The recent operation, bringing‌ Adam to Italy, marks the most ‍significant health evacuation to date, involving 17 patients ⁤and 53‍ family members.

The ‌evacuation was facilitated through diplomatic ‌efforts involving the⁢ Italian Embassy in Tel Aviv, the Consulate​ General in Jerusalem, and officials from the Prime Minister’s​ office. Support was ⁢also provided by the ‌European Union’s civil protection mechanism ⁤and the World Health Organization.

Medical and health units from the Italian⁣ Red Cross, along with ‍personnel from Civil Protection and the⁣ Farnesina crisis⁢ unit, ⁤were present on board‍ the aircraft to provide continuous medical assistance. These healthcare flights are directed towards Milan, Verona, and‌ Pratica⁣ di Mare.

Participating hospitals include the Regina Margherita of Turin,​ Niguarda and Policlinico ⁢in milan, Papa Giovanni XXIII in Bergamo, and university‍ hospitals in Padua and ⁣Verona, among others. This operation underscores the Italian government’s broader commitment to supporting the population of Gaza through humanitarian aid, food, and assistance.⁢ Italy is reportedly the fourth largest country globally, and ⁢the leading Western nation, in organizing the evacuation and ⁢transfer ‍of patients from Gaza to specialized hospitals.
