Adam Sandler Refutes Viral Story About Daughter and Chanel Store
Actor Adam Sandler has vehemently denied a widely circulated story claiming he intervened in an incident involving his daughter, Sadie, at a Chanel store in Beverly Hills. The narrative, which gained traction on TikTok, alleged that a Chanel employee mistreated Sadie, leading Sandler to purchase over $300,000 worth of handbags in retaliation. Sandler called the story “insane” and “100 percent made-up.”
Speaking to USA TODAY on Thursday, February 5, 2026, Sandler expressed his bewilderment at the false report. “That was one of the weirdest, dumbest, 100% made up things,” he said. “It was very odd.” He added that a friend even contacted him to inquire about the details of the purported shopping spree, prompting him to reiterate, “What are you talking about? It’s 100% nonsense.”
The fabricated story detailed an encounter where a Chanel sales associate allegedly told Sadie, 19, she “wasn’t allowed to touch” certain items and was “publicly humiliated.” The account then claimed Sandler responded by purchasing every classic flap bag in the store, totaling $312,000, to demonstrate his disapproval of the employee’s behavior.
Sandler addressed the story again with People magazine, further emphasizing its falsity. “I’ve been hearing about this thing and I saw it, and it’s just insane,” he said. “It’s just this made-up, weird thing that people ask me about. And I’m just like, ‘I’ve never heard of this in my life.’ That story was 100 percent insane and made-up, and not a word of it is true.”
The actor, 59, shares Sadie and another daughter, Sunny, 17, with his wife, Jackie. He acknowledged the prevalence of misinformation online, expressing his confusion about how such stories originate. “I don’t know how that [expletive] happens,” Sandler reportedly told USA TODAY.
Despite debunking the Chanel story, Sandler confirmed a separate report regarding a late-night food run. He laughingly verified a New York Post report that he ordered a midnight meal at In-N-Out Burger, calling that story “true” and contrasting it with the “pathetic” Chanel fabrication.
Sandler was recently honored with the Maltin Modern Master Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, following a Nielsen report that “Happy Gilmore 2,” starring Sandler and Bad Bunny, was the most-watched live-action movie of 2025, garnering 7.1 billion total minutes streamed. Bad Bunny, who played Happy Gilmore’s caddy in the sequel, has since achieved further success, performing at Super Bowl LX’s halftime show on February 8, 2026, and winning album of the year at the Grammy Awards.
