Adare Ryder Cup: Locals Receive Free Tickets & Ticket Resale Concerns

Residents of Adare, County Limerick, Ireland, are celebrating after receiving complimentary tickets to the 2027 Ryder Cup, set to be held at Adare Manor. The gesture, announced by Ryder Cup Europe, aims to involve the local community in the prestigious golf tournament’s centenary edition.

According to reports from The Journal, RTE.ie, and The Irish Independent, a limited number of general admission daily tickets for the three match days – Friday, September 17, Saturday, September 18, and Sunday, September 19 – have been allocated to residents of the island of Ireland. These tickets are priced at €499 each.

The initiative provides an exclusive opportunity for local residents to secure tickets more than a month before the general public ballot opens on Wednesday, June 3. Residents with a registered Ryder Cup ticket account can access this priority window starting this Friday, April 24, at 11 am (BST).

Beyond the daily tickets for the tournament itself, practice day tickets are also available to residents at reduced rates. Tickets for the Tuesday and Wednesday practice days (September 14 and 15) will be available from €89, while tickets for Thursday, September 16 – which will feature the Opening Ceremony – will cost €179. Notably, practice day tickets for those under the age of 16 are priced at just €20 on Tuesday and Wednesday, and €30 on Thursday.

A significant portion of tickets for Tuesday’s practice day will be distributed as part of the ‘SuperValu Community Day,’ courtesy of Musgrave, Ireland’s leading food retail, wholesale, and foodservice business. This further emphasizes the commitment to local engagement.

Ticket Demand and Secondary Market Prices

The anticipation surrounding the 2027 Ryder Cup is already driving up demand, and prices on the secondary market. Limerick Leader reports that tickets are currently being sold for triple their face value on some resale platforms.

This surge in secondary market prices comes after organizers defended recent price increases, acknowledging that ticket costs have nearly doubled compared to the 2023 event at Marco Simone in Italy. Daily general admission tickets for the 2027 tournament now cost £434 (€499), up from €260 (£225) four years prior. However, Richard Atkinson, the European Tour Group’s chief Ryder Cup officer, pointed out that prices remain lower than those charged at the 2023 Ryder Cup held in the United States, where admission cost £555 ($750).

“We acknowledge it’s an increase from Rome, that was four years ago, and a lot has happened in the world since then. We are lower than Bethpage. We’ve tried to make this as accessible as possible to a wide demographic of people. Our practice day tickets will be from 89 euros and juniors from 20 euros.”

Atkinson further emphasized that the pricing is proportionate to the event’s stature as a global sporting spectacle, stating, “Our prices are proportionate to a global sporting event. This event has grown in stature and profile; it’s one of the biggest sporting events in the world. We’re confident in our pricing, but we’ve made it accessible to everyone.”

The 2027 Ryder Cup will mark the 100th anniversary of the tournament and the second time Ireland has hosted the event, following The K Club in 2006. The tournament is scheduled to take place from September 13-19, 2027, at Adare Manor in County Limerick.

The complimentary ticket distribution to local residents underscores Ryder Cup Europe’s commitment to fostering community involvement and ensuring that the event benefits the surrounding area.
