Former Arsenal and Manchester City star Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed his lifelong admiration for Zamalek, a team he has supported since childhood.
Zamalek is set to face their arch-rivals Al-Ahly in the African Super Cup final, a match that promises to be an exciting encounter. Adebayor, who has been associated with Zamalek since he was 5-6 years old, expressed his enthusiasm for the match.
In an interview with MBC Egypt 2, Adebayor said, “The Al-Ahly match against Zamalek is great, especially for the winners who lost this match in Riyadh. It’s not easy to play the final of this tournament, and I wish them luck.”
Adebayor’s love for Zamalek stems from his childhood, when he would hear stories about the team’s rich history and achievements. He emphasized, “I don’t support any team, but the name I had in my mind since childhood was Zamalek. I’ve heard about Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Marseille, but Zamalek has always been special to me.”
As a child, Adebayor would often dream of watching Zamalek play in the African Super Cup final. Now, he has fulfilled that dream and is excited to see the team in action. He added, “I grew up hearing about Zamalek, and it’s a beautiful thing to see from the stands.”
Adebayor expects a thrilling match between two of Africa’s top teams. He concluded, “I expect a great match from two very good teams on the continent and one of the best teams on the continent.”
Adebayor had a distinguished football career, playing 448 matches and scoring 161 goals, with 48 assists. He played for top-tier clubs like Arsenal, Manchester City, and Real Madrid.
