Aethon Books Acquires Majority Stake in Vault Comics

Aethon Books, a publisher specializing in science fiction, fantasy, and LitRPG e-books and audiobooks, has acquired a majority interest in Vault Comics, a Montana-based comic book publisher. The terms of the deal, building on a previous strategic partnership, were not disclosed.
Rhett C. bruno, Aethon CEO, stated the acquisition brings both companies closer to creating a “one-stop-shop” for science fiction and fantasy authors. Vault Comics will continue under the leadership of CEO Damian Wassel and CCO Adrian Wassel. Aethon co-founders Rhett Bruno and Steve Beaulieu will join Vault’s board.
Damian Wassel confirmed that current staffing at Vault Comics will not be affected. He added that investors including Jeff Ubben, UTA, Crush Ventures, and Metallica’s Black Squirrel Partners remain invested in the company.
Wassel said the acquisition will provide increased resources for expanded product categories and marketing. New projects and licenses are expected to be announced soon. Vault Comics has gained recognition for titles such as barbaric and collaborations with musicians like Post Malone on Big Rig, and also projects with Metallica, Def Leppard, and The Beach Boys.
Aethon Books has found success with titles like He Who Fights with Monsters and has become a major publishing partner for Webtoon, publishing original webcomics series such as Return of the Runebound Professor. Wassel indicated that the relationship with Webtoon would benefit both companies.
