Afghanistan vs West Indies Live: ICC T20 World Cup Warm-up – Updates & Playing XIs

Bengaluru, India – A highly anticipated warm-up match for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is underway today, Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground 1 in Bengaluru. Afghanistan is facing off against the West Indies in Match 8 of the warm-up series.

The West Indies won the toss and elected to bowl first, according to reports. Both teams have announced their playing XIs for the contest.

Afghanistan’s squad includes Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, Sediqullah Atal, Darwish Rasooli, Gulbadin Naib, Azmatullah Omarzai, Mohammad Nabi, Shahidullah Kamal, Rashid Khan (captain), Fazalhaq Farooqi, Noor Ahmad, Naveen-ul-Haq, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Mohammad Ishaq, Ziaur Rahman Sharifi, and Abdullah Ahmadzai.

The West Indies will field Brandon King, Shai Hope (captain and wicketkeeper), Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell, Sherfane Rutherford, Romario Shepherd, Roston Chase, Matthew Forde, Jason Holder, Jayden Seales, Akeal Hosein, Gudakesh Motie, Shamar Joseph, Quentin Sampson, and Johnson Charles.

Afghanistan comes into this match with momentum, having secured a 61-run victory over Scotland. During that match, Darwish Rasooli delivered a strong performance, scoring 84 runs off 46 balls to help his team reach a total of 184/6. The Afghan team, led by Rashid Khan, boasts a spin-heavy attack featuring Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Noor Ahmad.

The West Indies, under the captaincy of Shai Hope, are looking for a positive result after experiencing inconsistent form in recent white-ball cricket.

This warm-up match is part of a series of 16 games taking place across four cities – Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai in India, and Colombo in Sri Lanka – from February 2nd to February 6th, in preparation for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup which begins on February 7th. The DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai and the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai are also hosting warm-up matches in India, alongside the BCCI Centre of Excellence grounds in Bengaluru. In Sri Lanka, matches are being held at the SSC Cricket Ground, R. Premadasa Stadium, and Colombo Cricket Club Ground.

Fans have the opportunity to attend matches, including the USA v India ‘A’ match on February 2nd and the India v South Africa match on February 4th at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Tickets are available at the venues’ box offices and online at https://in.bookmyshow.com.

Select matches, including Afghanistan v Scotland, UAE v India ‘A’, Canada v Italy, Nepal v UAE, Afghanistan v West Indies, Pakistan v Ireland, Nepal v Canada, New Zealand v USA, Italy v UAE, and Namibia v India ‘A’, will be streamed live on Jio Hotstar. The India v South Africa match will be available live on Star Sports and Jio Hotstar. Highlights will be available across ICC digital channels, including ICC.tv.
