South Jakarta Court Chairman Arrested in Bribery Case

Jakarta - Muhammad Arif Nuryanta, chairman of the South Jakarta district Court, was arrested today by the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) in connection with a bribery inquiry. The case centers around alleged irregularities in case handling at the Central Jakarta District Court.
Details of the arrest
Abdul Qohar, Director of Investigation for special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the AGO, announced the arrest at a press conference. Qohar stated that several individuals were taken into custody as part of the investigation.
“Investigators brought several people, among others, WG, namely the Young Perdaya Registrar at the North Jakarta District Court. Than MS and AR work as advocates,” Qohar said. He added, “Then Man, the Chairperson of the South Jakarta District Court as it was searched by some money as I called.”
Bribery and Gratification Allegations
Nuryanta previously served as Deputy Chairman of the Central Jakarta District Court. The AGO’s investigation focuses on allegations of bribery and gratification related to the handling of cases within that court.
Qohar stated that investigators have gathered sufficient evidence. “After carrying out the witnesses concerned, investigators obtained sufficient evidence of bribery and or gratification related to handling cases at the Central Jakarta District court,” he said.
Four Suspects Named
In total,four individuals have been named as suspects in the bribery case.
“On Saturday, April 12, 2025, the Attorney General’s Office investigator, named the four people as suspects because there had been a fairly evidence of bribery and or gratification related to the handling of cases in the Central Jakarta District Court,” said Qohar.
