Attorney General’s Office Responds to Allegations Against Tom Lembong

The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has cleared itself of allegations suggesting it is targeting former Trade Minister Tom Lembong in a corruption case related to sugar imports. Sutikno, the Director of Prosecution for Special Crimes at the AGO, stated, “Our actions and the evidence are all clear.” He made these remarks during a press conference at the South Jakarta State Court on November 26, 2024.

Sutikno highlighted that the AGO relies on evidence to explain the case facts. He expressed confidence that there is no criminalization occurring, urging respect for the legal process. He called on both the AGO and Tom Lembong to present solid evidence during the trial.

On the same day, Judge Tumpanuli Marbun rejected Lembong’s pretrial motion, emphasizing that two pieces of evidence supported Lembong’s status as a suspect. The judge confirmed that the process followed to designate him as a suspect adhered to legal protocols.

This case continues to draw attention as it unfolds in court.
