The north Carolina Emergency Management Division of the Department of Public Safety anticipates severe storms in western North Carolina Friday night.Affected areas include portions of Swain,Graham,Haywood,Yancey,Mitchell,and Ashe counties.

Eastern North carolina, including Greenville, Wilmington, New Bern, Rocky Mount, and Jacksonville, is also forecast to receive showers and storms Friday night.
Weekend Weather Outlook
The likelihood of severe downpours and storms will persist throughout the weekend, according to authorities.The primary threats from these storms are damaging winds and large hail.
The western region also faces a risk of flash flooding.
