Alhambra Beers: Bridging Craft and Contemporary Art
For another year running, Alhambra beers has solidified its presence at the prestigious Arcomadrid 2025, celebrating its eight-year partnership with the “Emerging Art beer prize” that highlights the dynamic intersection between craft and contemporary art. This esteemed prize program has become a cornerstone in the Spanish cultural landscape, honoring the talents of emerging artists who draw inspiration from traditional craftsmanship. Alhambra’s award aims to foster a deeper understanding between these two realms and ensure that craftsmanship remains an integral part of contemporary artistic expression. Alhambra’s Emerging Art Beer Prize program exemplifies how traditional crafts can be recalibrated in a modern context, using time-honored methods such as embroidery, ceramics, glassblowing, and wood carving.
This year marks a significant shift in the contest dynamics. Unlike previous editions, the winning work will not be showcased at the Alhmabra Beer’s booth but rather undergo a structured year-long mentorship program. A distinguished international jury will handpick a single project to follow from concept to completion, prepared to unveil it at Arcomadrid’s future edition in 2026. This new approach allows for a deeper engagement and nurturing relationship between the artist and their craft, fostering an organic growth of the initiative. There will be 15 finalists, from whom the winner will be announced on March 6, 2024.
The prize’s international jury, comprised of esteemed figures in the art and cultural sphere, includes Manuel Segade, the director of the Reina Sofía National Art Museum, who yearns to reveal:

Additionally, participated in the jury membership were Sandra Guimarães, director of the Museum of Contemporary Art Helga de Alvear de Cáceres, and Tania Pardo, director of the CA2M Museum. Sections of the judging board were held with participant artists pursuing prestigious and prestigious accomplishments of the fair. The Alhambra Cervejas members included Javier Vilar, Marketing Director, Álvaro Trujillo, Content Manager, and Mario Saez, Content and Activation Specialist. The Prize Commission included Alicia Ventura and independent mediator Iñaki Martinez, ensuring a diverse and discerning panel that reflected the nuances of both craft and contemporary art.
The jury carefully evaluated submissions, considering each artist’s proposed project as well as their previous body of work. Although prototypes from the 100 finalist artists explicitly portray an entirzing connection between art and craft, the real completeness and skills of legacy crafts placed in a contemporary setting.

This year, however, Alhambra Cerveas will leverage their exposé area in Arcomadrid to showcase the fair’s “A Vray Welcoming”,

The Alhambra Bread Beer Award encourages contestants to embody the ethos “without haste,” advocating for creations that are lavishly detailed and carefully crafted — traits synonymous with traditional artisanry. The award encourages evolution amid preservation – an ethos promoting concerted efforts to celebrate both heritage, maintain its relevance, and redefine its boundaries, defining the evolution of popular expression.
