India Secures Second Commonwealth Games Hosting prospect
Ahmedabad, India, has been officially confirmed as the host city for the 2030 Commonwealth Games, following a formal ratification at the Commonwealth Sport’s General Assembly in Glasgow on November 26, 2023. Inside the Games reported on the decision.

Sports Program for the 2030 Games
Commonwealth sport has confirmed that between 15 and 17 sports will be featured at the 2030 Games, following a programme review. The initial list includes athletics,swimming and para-swimming,table tennis and para table tennis,bowls and para bowls,weightlifting and para powerlifting,artistic gymnastics,netball,and boxing. The host city, Ahmedabad, will have the opportunity to propose up to two additional sports, with Twenty20 cricket, archery, badminton, 3×3 basketball, rugby sevens, cycling, diving, hockey, and wrestling currently under consideration.

Donald Rukare, President of Commonwealth Sport, expressed his enthusiasm for Ahmedabad 2030, stating it would bring “enormous sporting passion and relevance” and mark the ”start of a new golden era for Commonwealth Sport” following a ”Games reset.” The Print quotes Rukare’s statement.
Rukare also noted strong interest from other nations to host future Commonwealth Games,signaling a positive outlook for the event’s future. He stated, “We start our next century for the Commonwealth Games in good health.”
